UME RO-BAI KUROMOJI TEA

If you listen carefully in the quiet air of a cold garden, as if you are asleep, you can hear something. I created this piece with the image of awakening such a faint sensation.

The wintersweet flowers, which herald the beginning of the year, begin to bloom before the leaves have completely fallen. The leaves also give off a faint, refreshing fragrance that is just as strong as the fragrance of the flowers. The beautiful fragrance of the plum and the dignified fragrance of the Kuromoji. All of this is blended using only the bounty from the garden.

If possible, first brew the tea with a slightly smaller amount of water and enjoy the tea's aroma in a small teapot. Next, brew the tea with plenty of boiling water to enjoy the aroma and bitterness.

The wax plum flowers, signaling the start of the year, bloom before their leaves fully fall. Their scent is matched by the fresh fragrance of their leaves. The beautiful aroma of plum blossoms and the dignified scent of black lettering – all are blessings from our garden, blended together.

I recommend first brewing the tea with a slightly smaller amount of water than usual and enjoying its fragrance in a small teacup. Then, with a generous pour of hot water, savor the aroma and subtle bitterness.
