Every year, mitosaya works with one artist to design labels and packaging.
Following Kusanagi Shinpei in 2019, Nigel Peake in 2020, and Nishimoto Ryota in 2021, the collaborating artist for 2022 is Toronto, Canada-based artist and ink maker Jason Logan .
He creates drawings using ink made from colors extracted from natural and man-made objects he has collected himself, and is also the founder of the Toronto Ink Company , which manufactures and sells the ink.
For example, an acorn lying on the sidewalk, rusty construction materials under the highway, red soil, yellow soil, rough grey pebbles... They become unexpected colors, become colorful inks, and create new expressions.
In this collaboration with mitosaya, we are asking them to provide us with works that link with the various natural materials that mitosaya uses as raw materials and expand that world even further.
Please continue to look forward to mitosaya's continued creation together with Jason in 2022.
