FARM YARD Ishino
A rich sweetness bursts forth from beneath the crispy skin. The juicy flesh has a smooth and silky texture, making it popular not only for eating raw, but also for cooking.
The person who grows these tomatoes is Atsushi Ishino of "FARM YARD Ishino". 15 years ago, he returned to his hometown of Isumi City, quit his job and became a farmer. He fell in love with the plant cultivation method that he happened to learn about while working for a company, and since then, he has been passionate about tomatoes. His ideal is to produce tomatoes that taste like persimmons and apricots, fruits that have been popular in Japan for a long time.
The three varieties being sold at MITOSAYA this time are "Haresora," characterized by striped skin and a slightly dull red color; "Momotaro," a bright red, heart-shaped tomato; and a mix of cherry tomatoes in different colors, "Yellow Au Lait" and "Orange Au Lait." All are best eaten 4-5 days after picking, but the freshness that only freshly picked tomatoes can offer is hard to resist. Try them as they get sweeter with each passing day.
