ワークウェアブランドHandwerkerとmitosayaのコラボレーションから生まれた、蒸留家のためのエプロン。

Handwerkerは、デザイナー・玉井健太郎さんが手がけるワークウェアブランド。ご自身のブランドaseedoncloudから派生し、普段着としても着られる普遍的なワークウェアを提案しています。シーズンごとに定番のコレクションを展開する一方、毎シーズン、ひとつの職業に携わる人とともに、その仕事のための服をつくる取り組みも行っています。

今回は、mitosayaでの日々の作業に使うワークウェアをつくりたい、というオーダーから始まりました。打ち合わせと試作を何度も重ねて完成したのは、高密度な綿ツイル生地「備前壱号」を用いた一着。岡山の老舗帆布工場で、旧式のシャトル織機を使って織られる生地で、頑丈でありながら、しなやかで滑らかな風合いと上品な光沢を持っています。

通常は、身体を広く覆う丈の長いエプロンとして。前後を反転させれば、たくさんのポケットを備えたツールベストに。用途が決まっているようで決まっていない、少し不思議なかたちの服です。蒸留所や庭での作業はもちろん、接客や外出にも。着方や合わせる服によって表情が変わる、仕事着の枠に収まらない一着ができました。

An apron designed for distillers, born from a collaboration between workwear brand Handwerker and mitosaya.

Handwerker is a workwear brand by designer Kentaro Tamai, developed from his own label, aseedoncloud. The brand creates timeless workwear designed to be worn as everyday clothing. Alongside its regular seasonal collections, Handwerker also collaborates with people in different professions each season to create clothing specifically designed for their work. This project began with a simple request: to create workwear for the everyday tasks at mitosaya. After numerous discussions and prototypes, the result is a versatile garment made from Bizen Ichigo, a densely woven cotton twill. The fabric is produced at a long-established canvas mill in Okayama using traditional shuttle looms. Though exceptionally durable, it has a supple, smooth texture and a subtle, elegant sheen.

Worn in its usual orientation, it functions as a long apron that covers much of the body. Turned around, it transforms into a tool vest equipped with numerous pockets. It is a garment with a slightly unconventional form, seemingly designed for a specific purpose yet open to many possibilities.

Suitable for working in the distillery or garden, as well as serving customers or heading out, its appearance changes depending on how it is worn and what it is paired with. The result is a piece that goes beyond the boundaries of conventional workwear.
