さとうきびといえば南で育つイメージですが、私たちの地元のいすみ市でも、さとうきびを栽培している人たちがいます。10年ほど前からさとうきび栽培を始めた高師さんの畑は、日がよく当たり、風が気持ちよく抜けるいかにも気持ちのよい環境です。

2022年に、高師さんのさとうきびから初めて製造したラムが刺激となったのか栽培者も栽培地も増えてきました。約2トンのさとうきびを収穫し、南房総のラム蒸留所、房総大井倉蒸溜所で搾汁をさせてもらいました。
それぞれ100L程度ながら、ホワイトタイプのRHUM AGRICOLEと、樽熟成を施したRHUM OR、二種類のラムを作ることができました。

「AGRICOLE=農業」の名前の通り、生産地の近くだからできる、収穫直後のさとうきびを搾汁し新鮮な状態で発酵させることで、原料のフレッシュな風味と香りを引き出すラム。
モラセス（糖蜜）を使用した一般的なラムと異なり、フルーティで軽やかな口当たりと繊細な甘みが特徴的です。

RHUM AGRICOLEは、蒸留後に一年間ステンレスタンクで熟成したホワイトタイプ。アルコール度数を通常よりも低めにして、アグリコールラムの特徴である、やわらかな甘さ、草原や海藻のような香りを感じられつつも、食中にも飲んでいただける軽やかな味わいが特徴です。

Sugarcane, typically associated with warmer southern climates, is also cultivated in our local area of Isumi. The sugarcane fields started by Mr. Takashi about 10 years ago benefit from abundant sunlight and a refreshing breeze, creating an ideal environment for growth.

In 2022, the first batch of mitosaya rum was produced and sampled, which seemingly spurred an increase in both the number of cultivators and cultivation areas. This time, we were able to create two types of rum: a white type, RHUM AGRICOLE, and a barrel-aged type, RHUM OR.

Our agricole rum, made by juicing freshly harvested sugarcane and fermenting it immediately, brings out the fresh flavor and aroma of the raw ingredient. Unlike common rums made with molasses, our locally-produced agricole rum is characterized by its fruity and light taste and delicate sweetness, made possible by our proximity to the source.

RHUM AGRICOLE is a white type that has been aged in stainless steel tanks for a year after distillation. The alcohol content is kept lower than usual to preserve the distinctive seaweed-like aroma of agricole rum, while ensuring a light taste that can be enjoyed even with meals.
