人と暮らしと、台所〜夏(7)「江口宏志(蒸留家)・山本祐布子(イラストレーター)」

千葉・大多喜町で、蒸留所を運営する江口宏志さん。元は県立薬草園だった土地を借り受け、果実やハーブ等を使ったお酒をつくる日々。東京で話題の書店主だった江口さんは一念発起、家族と共にドイツに渡り蒸留酒づくりを修業、自然と寄り添う暮らしに感銘を受け千葉へ。イラストレーター山本祐布子さんは、今やハーブティーやジャム作りを担い、公私にわたるパートナー。園の施設をDIYで住空間へ、自由な発想のアイデア満載だ。

People, Life, and the Kitchen - Summer (7) "Hiroshi Eguchi (distiller) and Yuko Yamamoto (illustrator)

Hiroshi Eguchi runs a distillery in Otaki-machi, Chiba. He leases a plot of land that used to be a prefectural herb garden and spends his days making liquor using fruits and herbs. Mr. Eguchi, who used to be a popular bookstore owner in Tokyo, decided to go to Germany with his family to learn how to make distilled spirits. Yuko Yamamoto, an illustrator, is now in charge of making herb teas and jams and is her partner in both private and public life. She is a free thinker and has a lot of ideas for transforming the park's facilities into DIY living spaces.
